- Development Research Council of the State Council (China): Simon has had the opportunity to work with this leading Chinese Government research institute on two initiatives to date, the first explored the links between competitiveness of Chinese corporations and sustainability standards, Advancing Sustainable Competitiveness of Chinese Corporations, and the second explored the role of Chinese business investments in Africa, Responsible Business in Africa, the latter which was subsequently also published by Harvard University as a working paper.
- Instituto Ethos (Brazil): Member of the International Advisory Board and regular contributor to its annual conference, Simon has been involved in Instituto Ethos since it was established over a decade ago. Now engaged in supporting its development of the next generation of Ethos Indicators of corporate sustainability, past collaborations have involved engagements on responsible competitiveness, partnership accountability and climate change.
- Project Catalyst: participation in this multi-organisation initiative to advance international co-operation in addressing climate change, involving McKinsey, the European Climate Foundation, and the ClimateWorks Foundation. Co-authored outputs from this partnership to date have included the Business of Adaptation, Radical Simplicity: Lessons from the Amazon Fund, White Paper on Institutions, and Low Carbon Growth Plans: Advancing Good Practice.
- World Economic Forum: Elected by the Forum as a ‘Global Leader for Tomorrow’ in 2003, Simon has since been a regular attendee at Davos, and increasingly at the regional forums in the Middle East, China and elsewhere. He has co-authored three WEF publications, Mainstreaming Responsible Investment (2005) and Business and Public Governance (2008) and Corporate Governance in the Arab World (2009). He is currently on the Forum’s Global Agenda Council for Global Governance, and participates in work on climate change, sustainable consumption, governance and corporate citizenship.
- World Wide Fund for Nature (South Africa): collaborating with WWF in South Africa on a multi-phase policy initiative examining policy options for the South African in advancing a low carbon growth strategy, focusing on means for accelerating investments in renewables linked to international co-operation in financing South Africa’s renewables feed-in tariff. Also collaborating in this initiative is the South African Department for Public Enterprises.
